Synergy is described as a place for students to come together and worship.  https://www.ukcsf.org/weekly/shift/  This article explains Shift in more depth. Shift is described as a place for freshman to be able to find their way to fit in during college. Shift helps freshmen figure out where they are able to let God fit into their new life at college.

Usually getting called to the office meant trouble. As I hear my name getting called, everyone turns to look at me. I get nervous, even though I know why I am getting called. I had to miss class, my teachers would get mad I was leaving, and I always had to make up my work. I dreaded going to this meeting every year. I was not ready to start our three hour tennis practices in the freezing weather with a group of girls and guys that I was not close with. For the past six years, my team was a group of people who had one similar interest, tennis. I never talked to any of the players on the team, and often felt like an outsider. Why didn’t I just quit? Listening Assignment: This I Believe

       In the first recording I listened to about Jackie Robinson, the communities that we were hearing about were the baseball community, but also the African American community. Robinson was the first African American that joined Major League Baseball. He told about the challenges that he faced and how he had to get through them. I found most interesting the positivity and belief that Robinson had in society. He truly believes that if we work to make society good, then it will be good. I found this interesting because as a teenager today, people all around me are telling me that society is bad and that people of today’s world are bad.
